Abstract

I was asked to speak briefly about PERCO, the Platform for European Red Cross Co-operation on Refugees, Asylum seekers and Migrants in Europe. In my presentation I would like to stress the word "Co-operation" and give answers to two questions: Firstly, why do we need co-operation in die field of migration and what for? Secondly, why is PERCO successful? Co-operation has always a social dimension. Co-operation works mostly on a personal level: it is always human beings that are in contact with each other and put their forces and ideas together. A first look will therefore be dedicated to the social reality in Europe.
