Abstract
Migration is no longer a primarily male phenomenon; today, the majority of migrants are women. Sex and gender not only influence who is migrating and for what reasons. They also determine how migration affects the social situation and the health of migrants. In this interplay, sex and gender are not only important determinants but also mediators and effect modifiers in pathways affecting health. ©2015 by De Gruyter.
