Abstract
In this study we examined a child and adolescent psychiatric health-care population of Bremen, focusing on children under 12 years of age (N = 1,518) with anxiety disorders (N = 260). Using logistic regressions we identified risk factors in anxiety disorders and analyzed the success of treatment. Neither in the prevalence of anxiety disorders nor in treatment success were ethnic differences found. Only female gender was identified as a risk factor for anxiety disorders. The interaction of gender and migration status gave a higher prevalence of anxiety disorders in migrant boys. On the basis of the present results, psychotherapeutic treatment for anxiety disorders should focus less on social or familial aspects. © Hogrefe Verlag, Göttingen 2015.
