Abstract
As the mother-infant unit welcomes women with psychological suffering during pregnancy or post-partum period, this task in perinatality induces a discrimination between pathology and cultural identity that might remain unfamiliar to carers. In this dyadic relationship in a transcultural situation, the therapeutic approach has to be adapted to promote a link to the baby who is influenced by its origins and the host cultural background which will accompany the child throughout growth. Based on this approach, we are trying to co-build with our patients this mixed pattern of therapeutic care by supporting mothering as well as the mother-infant relationship. © 2015, John Libbey Eurotext.
