Abstract

Respect of other person's cultural impact is a prerequisite of cultural sensitivity in medicine. Cultural sensitivity individualizes dealing with ail patients. Prerequisites for the physician are knowledge of ethnic, religious and social origin, for the patient willingness for integration and to acquire knowledge of language. For complex professional and interpersonal situations there would be need for an «cultural and medical facilitater - translator, psychologist and physician in one person. For treatment of patients with Turkish migration background special knowledge are useful, but there is no typical patient of Turkish origin. Ethnic, religious, cultural and social facts are different. Most of the knowledge dealing with Turkish-descended patients is empirically and not scientifically based.
