Abstract

The arrival to Spain of children coming from other countries, either adopted, immigrant, or refugees, is a challenge for the paediatrician who has to take care of them. One of the main goals is that this population achieves the same immune protection than spanish children. Although vaccine schedules in the original countries may differ, most of these children have received diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliovirus, hepatitis B and measles vaccines and are protected against these illnesses. So, the most recent papers recommend completing vaccine schedules with those vaccines or doses not administered in their countries better than reinitiate the complete schedule. For traveller children, recommended vaccines depend on the age, destiny and duration of the travel and the previous administered vaccines. Anyway, traveller children should be evaluated in specific international vaccination settings, at least 4-6 weeks before travelling. © 2015, Ediciones Ergon SA. All rights reserved.
