Abstract

Despite the high number of young refugees and the high rate of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in this group, there is uncertainty as to which treatments are effective. An extensive literature search resulted in 798 hits, of which 10 studies met our inclusion criteria. Eight studies reported a significant reduction of PTSD symptoms: narrative exposure therapy for children, meditation-relaxation, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and rapid-ed therapy. However, owing to the few available studies and their methodological shortcomings it is not possible to make recommendations based on the literature. © 2015 Hogrefe Verlag, Göttingen.
