Abstract
The analysis of German refugee children after World War II focuses on two topics: 1. the relation between narration and keeping silent, between forgetting and remembering, 2. the discussion of experts in Germany and in the western World on the physical and psychological impact of war, flight and expulsion. How much stress could young people tolerate in extreme situations? Could it lead to a change of personality caused by special experiences? © Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht 2004.
