Abstract
The rapid wage increase and labor shortage since the late 1980s in South Korea forced the government to allow the employment of workers from numerous Asian countries. However, unforeseen problems arose when many foreign workers remained illegally, and growing awareness of their plight raised social and human rights concerns. © 2004 by The Regents of the University of California.
