Abstract

One can clearly see in the center of Madrid (Centro and Arganzuela Districts) that Spain's immigrant population has grown very quickly in the past few years. This increase has an effect on psychiatry emergency and psychiatry hospitalization units, where more and more immigrants have been treated. It has been seen that immigrants with mental disorders show different clinical manifestations. We are particularly interested in a clinical syndrome that occurs especially in East European patients. The traditional school of Psychiatry called this syndrome «Immigration Psychosis». We review this syndrome, depicted in the clinical vignettes of four patients from East Europe.
