Abstract

Primary care physicians often need decision aids when dealing with febrile patients coming back from the tropics. Following a systematic review of the literature, we developed practice guidelines for the evaluation of these patients. We constructed a decision chart including the differential diagnosis, the specific laboratory exams to perform and the treatment (presumptive or after documentation) to administer. The level of evidence, the degree of recommendation and the corresponding literature are always detailed. A specific website www.fevertravel.ch has been created in order to widely disseminate these guidelines and insure their availability anytime anywhere.
