Pathology of inmigrant children: An approach from primary care [Patología del niño inmigrante: Abordaje desde atención primaria] (Review)

Abstract

In the last 20 years there was in Spain a significant growth of immigrant population comming from economic and social depressed countries. In this situation, immigrant children have special health care needs and vulnerabilities, and primary care pediatricians should be aware of the special health problems for which this population are at risk in order to offer specific medical attention, so in preventive like in the therapeutic aspects. This paper aims to provide primary care pediatricians a guide to role out in this children any infectious, nutritional, or development disease, and to detect specific psicosocial problems related with their immigrant "status".
