Refugees' convoy of social support: Community peer groups and mental health services (Article)

Abstract

Based on the findings of an exploratory study on support systems and help-seeking experiences of thirty-six survivors of war and torture, this article presents their experiences with two supportive resources, formal mental health services and community peer groups. The aim of this article is to discuss factors that shape survivors' use of mental health services as well as the functions and benefits of community peer groups.
