The social, economic, psychological and health problems for Syrian refugees in the zaatari refugee camp (Article)

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the social, economic, psychological and health problems for Syrian refugees in the Zaatari refugee camp, and the disclosure of the role of knowing "dealers crisis disaster through the exploitation of refugees and their impact on the most vulnerable groups such as women, girls and children, the elderly and increasing violence. To achieve these goals, the study was conducted on a sample of (1024) family, representing 5% of families in the camp, they have been selected randomly from (12) Block. The data was collected through personal interviews using a questionnaire. The methodology applied was descriptive and statistical analyses. Through the analysis it was found that: the level of health and economic services and infrastructure in the camp was unacceptable, camp residents need to improve the quality and quantity of drinking water, the level of electricity services and maintenance of internal roads, and to work on the collection of waste from the camp constantly, the need to provide vocational training centers for young people and provide them with employment opportunities commensurate with the conditions of the camp, the provision of a comprehensive health center in the camp and doctors specialized in the treatment of children, work to reduce dropouts among children through the opening of the role of children and schools of all levels of education. It was also revealed that there are no particularly with regard to the exploitation of women and children, or the existence of sexual harassment or abuse of women or children in the camp or the presence of traffickers of human beings or crises or to humans or taking advantage of the disaster by exploiting the refugee phenomenon of security problems in the camp. © 2018 DAR Publishers/The University of Jordan.
