Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the poor working conditions of migrant laborers in South Korean local communities and to explore how they can attain more decent working experiences in the dimensions of employment and working conditions, social security, basic rights at workplaces, and laborers representation and dialogue. As a result of analysis, this article identified the indecent working conditions of migrant laborers in terms of low wage and wage overdue, frequent overtime working, exclusion from social insurance programs, exposure to discrimination and verbal violence, exclusion from trade unionism, and their disadvantageous positions in wage negotiations. © 2019 Lex localis.
