Abstract
Refugee adolescents experience various forms of psychological distress that manifests primarily in posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression. The prevalence of mental health disorders is particularly high among unaccompanied refugee minors. In addition to stressors during the flight, acculturation problems play an important role too. A dysfunctional acculturation strategy has a high predictive value for posttraumatic stress disorder and depression. In recent years, a number of studies have shown that behavioral therapeutic approaches are particularly effective therapeutic intervention. Social efforts (e. g., in the context of youth welfare) and therapeutic interventions are necessary for the integration of refugee minors in order to create new perspectives for them. © 2019 Hogrefe Verlag.
