Abstract
This paper analyses French identity political discourse in three informative documents addressed to people applying for entry, residence or naturalization in France, produced by the French Ministry for Internal Affairs: the Guide du demandeur d’asile en France, Venir vivre en France and Le livret du citoyen. The analysis will be focused on their textual and linguistic features. The primary function of this material should be to help people who decide to enter and seek residence in France to understand the procedures for obtaining the status they aspire to, but our analysis reveals that far greater stress is placed on telling them what lifestyle they should adopt if they want their application to be successful. © 2018 Editura Universitatii din Oradea.
