Abstract
The focus of this contribution is on the question in which circumstances of everyday life refugees are living in peripheral regions after receiving asylum in Austria. The few existing studies and first own investigations (in the context of project preparation) lead to the assumption that complex and heterogeneous circumstances of everyday life are to be seen in relation to social inequalities specifically harming the positioning of migrants. Nevertheless, the two case studies presented also show how individuals forge out spaces of action in spite of these unfavorable structural conditions. © 2016, The Author(s).
