Abstract

The Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) has outstanding analytical potential for research on immigrants' mental health and quality of life. This article examines the quality of sampling, the composition and percentage of respondents in the SOEP sample with an immigrant background, and the indicators available in the SOEP on topics of mental health and quality of life. The concluding overview of the existing literature on these topics and of the SOEP's new refugee sub-sample underscores that the SOEP's potential for addressing these questions is far from exhausted. © Georg Thieme Verlag KGStuttgart New York.
