Abstract

This contribution broaches the issue of the crisis of the European currency union and the refugee crisis as emergency situations, for which neither contractual nor institutional precautions exist. What are the differences, what are the similarities in the political handling of both crises? What are the threats for the rule of law, the democracy and the separation of powers? Are there structural causes, which suggest a failure of further integration? Finally: What would be the conditions for a beneficial European integration? © 2016, List-Gesellschaft e.V.
