This article points out some analytical research addressing trends care and family in the context of international migration of parents published in Latin America and Spain between 2002 and 2013. The study was conducted through a literature review supported by the identification, classification, categorization and interpretation of these trends, conceptual approaches in research, research subjects and transnational care: challenge to the investigative processes with family in investigations in which the center of analysis was the paternal or maternal family migration experience. In these investigations the structural condition of the care allowance as knowing and duty of women is repeated; some discussions about the social organization of care in the family and their transnationalization shown, and reveals little research about men and care. © 2016, Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico.
