Abstract

Based on empirical research in 2015, this article assesses the role of Austrian civil society in dealing with challenges in connection with the massive influx of refugees. Services, regarding both initial aid and integration activities, were looked at closer. Also, framework conditions regarding civil society activities are being discussed. In interviews, challenges for civil society actors have been collected and then were complemented by impressions of Syrian asylum seekers.
