Abstract

The psychotherapeutic treatment of migrants is associated with difficulties due to migrationspecific cultural, linguistic and health structural aspects. Using an anonymised self-assessment questionnaire performed at two timepoints, the estimation of German speaking psychotherapist was examined with regard to psychotherapeutic treatment of people from other cultures. Between the questionnaires a training was conducted as part of a block seminar. The seminar focused on the teaching of basic knowledge of intercultural competence as recommended in the guidelines of the EPA and WPA. It turned out that the teaching and training of intercultural competence was able to alter the assessment of the panelists for the treatment possibilities of migrants significantly. © Schattauer 2016.
