Abstract

Negative attitudes towards ethnic outgroup members have been shown to impact migrant children's school performance. Thus, changing interethnic attitudes provides an important approach to diminish the gap in levels of academic achievements of migrant and non-migrant students. Consequently, we provide an overview of social psychological theories that explain causes of negative intergroup attitudes, theories of attitude change, and interventions that were effective in changing interethnic attitudes. These interventions could serve as blueprints for interventions in school contexts. © 2016 by Ernst Reinhardt Verlag.
