Abstract

The demographical data on the Italian population, published by ISTAT in 2002-2005, show a substantial and continuous rising of immigration in Italy. One of the bands of population which is mostly rising, consists of the migrants over 65. This trend is going to increase and could bring, in the near future, some socio-medical problems. In this work we evaluate epidemiology of different pathologies in over 65 migrants, dividing them into some groups of interest. We analysed, over a mean follow-up period of three years, the psychological impact and the changes in behaviour due to illness. Finally, at the end of the study, we made a geriatric multidimensional evaluation on all the enrolled patients, comparing these results to those of a control group of Italian people over 65.
