Abstract

As clinicians are actually facing patients from several and variegated cultures, it appears important to actualize in clinical practice these various and important aspects. Thus major challenges become associated with offering care to migrant families. Based on recent research in this relatively new research field (a combination of medicine and anthropology), we discuss the challenges and dynamics between culture, contextual family aspects and clinical practice. We also elaborate practical strategies to promote and stimulate cultural proficiency in intercultural consultations.
