Abstract

Objectives: To analyze social, cultural and economic characteristics of the inmigrant population, in order to improve health care and social integration. Material and method: Data were collected in the Neanotology Service of the HCSC from December 2003 to December 2006. 9306 children were born in that period of time. The sample of this study were the 7167 children born healthy. All of them remained with their mothers from birth to clinic discharge. The method consisted in a personal inquiry made to the inmigrant couples, containing questions about the facts object of this study. The results are statistically compared with the ones of the Spanish couples. Results: Whereas most of the inmigrant couples work in the Tertiary Sector, Spanish couples usually work in upper level professions.
