Abstract
Children are not only our riches but also have to be treated as future representatives and preservers of our culture, identity and historical awareness. Hence we should not be indifferent towards what is happening to them in the present. Their rights have to be protected from every aspect. This is especially true of the most endangered category of children i.e. refugee Roma children. The discrimination these children experience during their adolescence leaves them with irreparable consequences, which has been understood by Christian churches. They have requested civil authorities to provide an adequate legal protection for children and minors. The paper describes specific cases of discrimination of children and of systematic violations of the rights of refugee children in Montenegro. It shows the poor and insufficient effectiveness of the state when it comes to curbing the segregation of Roma children, the reaction of the international community and the role of Christian churches in abolishing the discrimination and segregation of the Roma people.
