Abstract

This is a well-documented contibution to the exile of Elizabeth II that touches upon its initial phase (Pau, September-November 1868). Indeed, a period not studied so far but that determines and anticipates, to a great extent, the long exile of the queen in Paris for 36 years until her late death in 1904. This study keeps track of that first exile day by day through some available do cumentary and hemerographic sources (especially those ones related to the press of Pau and the Atlantic Pyrenees Department, a hitherto unused source on the part of historiographers specialized in this issue). In short, new data and information are thus provided to shed some further light on the subject matter.
