Abstract

The foreign refugees camp of Latina, active from 1957 to 1989, was the most important and the biggest one in Italy. The refugees passing in the camp at the beginning are people from Eastern Europe countries, mostly Hungarians, Czechs and people on the run from Soviet totalitarism. From the economic crisis of the late seventy till its closing, the camp was crossed by a different migration, from far away parts of the world, like Indonesia, and an economic migration mostly from Poland, and its big flood leads to the closing of the structure. The camp, in which international founding had a relevant role, has the function of sending migrants to countries better than Italy, could offer a future for refugees. Therefore refugees were evaluated taking into account behavior and collaboration shown which are important criteria to gain eligibility to asylum or to obtain a visa for a new world.
