Abstract
Most of the protocols developed for the immigrant child attention are focused on imported infectious diseases and there is less information on nutritional problems and feeding risks of the immigrant child. When they arrive in our country most of these children have marked deficiencies in relation to characteristics of their feeding in the country of origin, and in the process of adaptation to the host country they incorporate new habits that can unbalance their diet. The aim of the pediatrician will be assesing a balanced diet, performed being respectful and sensible to differences, and therefore the purpose of this article is to understand the feeding characteristics of immigrant children in their country of origin and the nutritional risks arising from them to promote healthy habits and encourage the maintenance of traditional dietary practices that are beneficial. ©2012 Ediciones Mayo, S.A.
