Abstract
The present study investigates stress and coping in immigrant and German adolescents. 164 immigrants and 1625 German adolescents, aged 12-18 years (M = 14.70; SD = 1.53), filled in self-report measures assessing global and specific stress and coping in two problem domains: Parents and identity. In both domains, immigrant adolescents report more stress than German adolescents. In regard to coping, German adolescents are more active than immigrant adolescents in solving identity and family problems with the help of their parents and friends. In both groups, females report a higher level of identity-related stress than males and employ more active and more withdrawal coping than males.
