Abstract
Little is known about the role that gender differences play in the reporting of discrimination among Latino/as. Using the intersectionality theory we explore the impact gender has on the perceptions of discrimination among 283 Dominican immigrant women. Variations in acculturation levels for both men and women are also explored. Overall, results support that Dominican males are significantly more likely to report experiencing discrimination compared to Dominican females; however, Dominican women high in acculturation were more likely to report discriminatory experiences. These findings have research and practice implications for our understanding of gender differences in perceptions of discrimination among an immigrant population. © 2015 (selection and editorial matter) Common Ground.
