Order of 13 January 1989 regulating Reception Centres for Refugees and Asylees. (Article)
Abstract
This Spanish Order establishes regulations for Reception Centres for Refugees and Asylees. It provides that these Centres are public establishments designed to give lodging, maintenance, and psychosocial assistance of an immediate and primary nature, as well as other social services, to facilitate the social integration of persons seeking the status of refugee or asylee who lack the economic resources to care for their necessities and those of their family. The lodging to be provided is temporary, and other services can include advice on problems related to applying for asylum, information on Spain, language instruction, and activities designed to facilitate integration into the work force. Further provisions of the Order set forth rules on the required characteristics of beneficiaries, the length of stay--in general 6 months--finances, and cooperation with other organizations.
