Abstract

In 374 refugees an acute hepatitis A was found in 0.6% and a hepatitis B in 0.9%. Excretion of shigella and active tuberculosis were detected in one case each. 53.5% were carriers of intestinal parasites. Imported infectious diseases could be transmitted either to the German population or to other refugees. So it seems to be necessary to expand the diagnostic program of the first examination of refugees.
