Abstract

The author notes that recent international migration to Argentina consists primarily of illegal migration from bordering countries. She identifies the oscillations of Argentinian policy concerning immigration as a major cause of this illegal migration. The five amnesty decrees adopted over the past 40 years have not led to major changes. The author stresses the need to develop policies to reduce illegal immigration and the consequent exploitation by employers of illegal immigrants. (SUMMARY IN ENG)
