Abstract

Analyzes how basic concepts are used to characterize migration. Reference is made to the definitions underlying actual statistical systems, and to the internationally accepted model definitions. An in-depth analysis of the nature of the United Nations definitions reveals their potential limitations and allows an assessment of whether the achievement of homogeneity in statistical concepts should be a principal goal. -from Author
