Rural public health nurses who provide services for migrant farm workers may lack knowledge of the scope of the health problems of these laborers. Hazards include injuries due to the use of implements and machinery, exposure to diseases of environmental and infectious origin, pesticide exposure, and social and psychologic problems. The implications for public health nursing intervention can be outlined using a population‐focused approach. Nursing interventions can be effective at local, state, and national levels.
