Abstract
The birthplace of fathers of the 1236 children seen in the medical emergency room of the Trousseau Hospital in Paris during the first eight weeks of 1983 (January 3rd to February 26th) was studied. 58.4% of the children were of foreign stock. Among these, most had North African (40%) or Black African (25%) ancestry, and 78.8% had been born in France. Comparison of foreign children and French children born in continental France showed significant differences: admissions were more frequent for continental French children, proportion of infants was greater among foreign children, and fewer foreign children had a family physician.
