Abstract

By comparing results from 3 very different cities in terms of cultural and economic development, seeks to demonstrate how differently duration-of-residence results mesh with the retrospective data when selectivity and re-migration patterns differ significantly. The details of the 1975 survey data, which distinguish those arriving during the 5 years prior to that date and those arriving earlier, allows for control variables to reduce the possibility of distortions due to changing composition of migrant cohorts over time. Also collected were retrospective data on residential mobility and investments.-B.W.Beeley
