Abstract

The formation of public opinion on the nature and impact of Mexican immigration to the USA is explored, with particular respect to the Simpson-Mazzoli Immigration Bill of 1982 aimed in part at reducing illegal immigration. Issues surrounding the Mexican problem are often presented in ideological terms and economic aspects of the movements associated with mutuality of benefits are played down. -W.T.S.Gould
