Abstract
This report documents a case of hepatosplenic schistosomiasis in a South‐East Asian refugee boy who presented with malaise, abdominal distension, and was found to have massive splenomegaly and esophageal varices. The diagnosis was confirmed by liver biopsy and he was treated with a highly efficacious schistosomicide, Praziquantel. The case highlights the possible occurrence in Australia of non‐endemic tropical diseases in immigrants. Copyright © 1983, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
