The author considers improper any generalizing statement on the Maghreb because of the cultural and linguistic variations between certain districts. It is necessary to distinguish, when we take up the problems of the emigrant's family, on the one hand, the ordinary problems of mental health of the group to whom the migrant's family belongs from those attached to the emigrant's family status; on the other hand the problems of mental health connected to the current cultural and socioeconomic changes from those connected to the emigrant's family/wife/child status.
