Abstract

418 stool specimens have been examined by using the MIFC-technic. A routine parasitologic examination of certain groups of foreigners to be made mandatory. No significant rate of infestation with helminths or pathogenic protozoans could be found in Germany (1 and 7% resp.) or in Northern or Western Europe (0 and 6% resp.), but the rate of infestation of Southern Europe (in each case 14%), Turkey (21 and 40% resp.), Africa, most of them from Ghana (17 and 67% resp.), Indochina (46 and 24% resp.) and the rest of Asia (28 and 24% resp.) has been found to be significantly higher. Altogether 22 per cent of the people from the South of Europe, 54% from Turkey, 56% of Indochinese refugees, 78% from Africa and 48% from the rest of Asia were in need of treatment.
