Abstract

The article reports on observations and results of health control of a total of 1151 refugees from Indo-china, carried out between January 1979 and June 1980. The demand that an initial systematic medical checkup is mandatory to detect contagious diseases and persons excreting pathogens results from statistical analyses. Strict hygiene in living quarters must be consistently enforced. Furthermore, observation and control within the framework of the Federal Epidemics Law, and safeguarding of medical care in refugee homes, will prevent serious health risks which may otherwise be involed in handling the large influx of refugees from Indo-china.
