Abstract
Medical providers need to be able to provide interpretation and translation services so that limited English proficiency patients can experience the same level of care as their English-speaking counterparts, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Professionally trained interpreters can mitigate negative health impacts encountered with ad hoc interpreters. ©2019 by the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and The Duke Endowment.
