Abstract
This Special Issue focuses on ways in which governments in a variety of countries are attempting to cope with aspects of the challenges posed by international in-migration, including Sweden, Germany, Turkey, South Korea, and the United States. This introductory essay presents an overview of migration globally in order to provide context for the articles that follow. An understanding of the magnitude, causes, and patterns of migration is needed in order to understand and appreciate the nature of the challenges that governments face and the distinctive approaches countries’ have taken in their attempts to manage the integration of migrants into their economies and societies. © 2019, © 2019 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
