Abstract
Scholars have not studied criminal behavior among returned migrants in developing countries despite increasing international migration flows. This study addresses that shortcoming by analyzing a survey of 1 264 prison inmates in mexico, comparing nonmigrants and returned migrants. The objective is to correlate the use of violence during the crime with a set of individual, family, and community factors. This study does not find statistical differences between the two groups in terms of the use of violence during the crime or the type of crime committed.
