Abstract

In this article, the author seeks to highlight the effects of migration on migrant families, on the host society and professionals. After a theoretical part on the issues of confrontation with cultural alterity, he focuses on the problematics of intergenerational transmission and the dynamics of change in the migratory space. A clinical vignette illustrates the complexity of the psychic work involved in cultural hybridisation and the construction of identity with the second generation, as well as the interest of transcultural consultation.
