The study of the migration processes in the Astrakhan Oblast was carried out in 2006. The gender and age-specific structure of migrants was analyzed as well as their social status and settling in the region. It was revealed that having high mortality rate and low fertility rate as a background the migration increase no longer compensates the natural population losses. The carried out analysis permit to forecast (in case of immutable situation) the decrease of total population of the Astrakhan Oblast for the space of several years, the increase of the demographic load on the able-bodied population. These circumstances inevitably will lead to the negative social, economic and demographic aftermaths.
